document.documentElement.className='js'; Better Together: Upcoming Outdoor Dog-Friendly Events  - Michigan Humane

As summer draws closer and the days get longer, you and your fur baby are probably ready to get outside and enjoy the warm weather together. Attending a pet-friendly event with your animal companion by your side benefits both you and them. Outdoor events can boost physical activity and improve your health by lowering blood pressure, strengthening muscles and decreasing stress. Your dog also gets the chance to explore their surroundings, which can help keep their mind and body sharp.

Events can also give you and your pet the chance to socialize with other people and animals. According to research conducted by Mars Petcare titled “Keeping People and Pets Together,” over 55% of pet owners would feel more comfortable having a pet with them at outdoor restaurants and events. This comfortability can not only help you build connections with other pet owners, but the increased interactions could even boost your pet’s confidence.

Start planning out your summer by putting these pet-friendly events on your calendar! You and your furry friend are bound to have a great time at each (or all!) of them.

Bark in the Park – April 30, May 14, September 10 and September 25

Baseball and dog lovers, this event is for you! Bring your pup to Comerica Park this summer and watch the Detroit Tigers take to the field. Tickets for Bark in the Park include a donation to Michigan Humane and an exclusive Bark in the Park item while supplies last. A copy of all up-to-date dog vaccinations is required upon check in to Comerica Park. DDHPP & Rabies vaccines are required for entry. Leptospirosis, Bordetella and Canine Influenza vaccinations are recommended. Learn more and buy tickets here.

Drinking with Dogs – Monthly May-October

Looking to grab a drink with your dog at your side? Consider attending one of Canine to Five’s Drinking with Dogs events! Every month throughout the summer, you can check out a different dog-friendly bar in Metro Detroit. Spend the night with good drinks and good company of other pets and their owners.

Please note that this event is 100% on leash. The first Drinking with Dogs event of 2024 is May 21st at Dequindre Cut Freight Yard. See all the Drinking with Dogs event on Canine to Five’s website.

K9’s at Keyworth – June 8th

On June 8th, both you and your pet are invited to watch the Detroit City Football Club Women take on AFC Ann Arbor at Keyworth Stadium. Not only do you two get to catch a great game, but you also get access to a designated pet area and a dog bandana presented by Strategic Staffing Solutions. Make sure your pet looks their best because there’s a dog beauty pageant at halftime!
